As we delve into our stories, our setting, our world-building, we sometimes find ourselves discovering things related to our stories when we're not even searching for them.
- You find books that are perfect for inspiring your world-building.
- People are mentioning something on social media that would work well in your novel.
- While doing research for a blog post, you find a link on the Wikipedia page that, lo and behold, takes you to something cool and totally related to your manuscript.
- While listening to a song, the lyrics inspire a new legend for your fantasy setting.
- You just found the perfect dog breed for your characters to keep on their farm.
- You see images that are similar to some of your dragon species.
- You log onto Facebook, and a page you follow happens to post something related to your stories.
- You have an insanely long to-do list, much of it compiled by the characters themselves.
- Just when you had an idea to do something, things appear that correspond both to those ideas and to your stories.
- The characters are surrounding you now.
- There's no escape.
- They just decided to hold you hostage, and you're going to be world-building and story-telling here for the rest of your life.
