Things More Fun With Friends

The thing about a good friend is that you just like hanging out with them. Whether it's a birthday party, going to a movie theater, playing video games, or laughing as you beat them at 'Sorry!', things are more fun with them around.
But it's not just about the fun activities like holding a pillow fight (despite your parents instructing the horde of eight-years-olds to go to bed approximately 8,000,000 times). It's also about making even the mundane things more enjoyable. You have to buy paper towels and canned corn? Having your friend with you will make the journey to WinCo more interesting. And oh boy, they're heading to the hardware store tomorrow. You'd better tag along to provide them with conversation while they purchase those super-exciting nails and screws.

Let's say you have to get groceries. Ugh, a boring shopping trip. But when you're hanging out with friends, it suddenly becomes more fun. You chat during the drive, and while walking through aisles. You see a can of whipped cream, and it reminds you of a funny story, which you then tell them. They see a product you absolutely hate, then proceed to tease you about how you should totally buy it. "You need this." they say, holding up a box of food that you swear tastes like the cardboard it comes in. "It's your favorite food, you eat it every day."
Of course, you have to retaliate. "Hey, isn't this an interesting-looking book?"
"Ugh, no! I hate that author!"
"You spent hours talking about how you loved their books."
"You mean ranting about how it had no plot and the characters were all fools? And the ending... I wanted the love interest to fall off a cliff and die."

Sometimes you're hanging out with friends, and the most random things seem fun. "The movie doesn't start for an hour. Let's hang around Wal-Mart!"
"Cool. I need to pick up a new phone charger, anyway. The old one isn't working very well."
"Ooo, and while we're there, we can check out the CD selection."
Ten minutes later, you're buying candy to smuggle into the theater, and looking at the cute stuffed animals on a display rack. And hey, look at this cool stuff over here!

After my friend and her mother moved, they needed household stuff. I went with them to Dollar Tree, where we picked up all kinds of stuff. Come to think of it, I'd never fully appreciated just how much you can get at Dollar Tree. They have plates, cups, bowls, pot holders, storage containers, cleaning supplies, and so much more. We chatted and joked as we perused the store, buying dustpans and baskets.
