Second-Hand Stores

We went to Goodwill a while ago, and I saw some curious things for sale. It got me thinking, what other interesting or crazy things have people found at second-hand stores? So I began my research.

Tap shoes

No joke, I found a pair of these. Care to dance? (tap tap tappity tap)

Film

Another thing I saw while in Goodwill. Not often you see film for camera any more. These days, 'film' is more like an SD memory card.

Old radios

I'm not sure how to get pictures off my flip phone, but when I looked up pictures of old radios on Google, I found an image which looks like the same model I saw at Goodwill.

Radio from 1952

Phonograph

Just in case you wanted more old-school music technology, here you go.

Vinyl records

To play on your phonograph.

Liszt record with writing on cover. 'Shopping list: bread, milk, paper towels'
As an added bonus, 'Liszt' means 'flour' in Hungarian. Talking a fitting name for a musical shopping list.

Valuable jewelry

A web article says that someone bought a ring at a thrift store, and it was later appraised to be worth over $17k.

Drum set

I couldn't not touch when I saw it for sale. (randomly drums fingers on it)

Table with built-in sowing machine

Another curious thing I noticed at Goodwill. Bet you don't see those every day.

Furry scale

Bathroom scale covered in tawny faux fur

Snazzy pajamas

Red pajamas with zebra-stripe accents and flared trouser legs.

Toilet paper holders with electronics.

AM/FM restroom radio with telephone. Has toilet paper holder.

Pink AM transistor radio with toilet paper holder

Organ

Wurlitzer electronic organ with two keyboards

Prodikeys keyboard

Originally bundled with software, this gadget allows you to record, play, and learn music with your computer.

Prodikeys- combination piano and computer keyboard.

Grand piano

In case you haven't seen enough keyboards, here's a 1939 Schumann someone bought for less than $60.

Feather tie

Tie striped with rows of feathers

Cameras

Someone bought two high-quality cameras for less than twenty-five bucks.

Nikon D3200 and Cannon EOS Rebel XS cameras

Items with free money

People have found desks, purses, wallets, and other things at thrift stores... which the previous owners failed to check inside of before donating.

Wallet with American fifty-dollar bills in it
This wallet was bought for 25¢. Think they got a good bargain?

Canadian bills of various denominations, including two-dollar bills.
A woman found this in a purse she got at a thrift store.

Signed books

'A Brief History of Time' book by Stephen Hawking, signed on first page.

Plaque honoring a former US president

Just in case you thought it couldn't get much crazier, here's an award Barack Obama received. And then a thrift store received.

Champagne from World War II

Dog translator

Bow-Lingual dog translator- handheld device

Antique book

Like an 1851 astronomy book, for instance.

'Smith's Illustrated Astronomy Textbook' from 1851.

Unique pictures

Black-and-white photo of seemingly headless girl lying on picnic table. Head peeping out from behind table next to body.

Night vision goggles

Dehydrated water

In case you needed a gag gift.

Fake elephant head

Fake elephant head with blue floral pattern and plastic eyes

Cookie stamps

I had to laugh when I saw this one on Bored Panda.

'Baking With My Homies' cookie stamps- various faces

Vintage games

'E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial' game for Atari 2600

Anyway,  these are a few (hundred) things people have found at thrift stores. And now that I've blown up your computer or smartphone with all these images, I'm going to force myself to stop looking at web articles.
