The Thanksgiving Plague

Some years ago, it was November, and my mother and I planned to go to my aunt's for Thanksgiving. It was just the two of us, so it didn't make sense to make a big dinner at home.
As the holiday approached, however, things changed. Mom came down with sort of cold or flu, and was miserable. She coughed, she hacked, she blew her nose. She stayed in bed, and wasn't interested in doing much of anything, even eating. At one point, she decided she was going to get up and go into the living room. She stayed out there for about an hour, then went "I'm going back to bed." I also commented that we probably didn't need the central heat on, because Mom was radiating plenty of heat.

High School Shenanigans- Part 2

I have a ton of stories about high school, so I thought I'd split things up in two posts. This was an era of feral teenagers and near-death experiences. I swear, one of the boys in my class did so many crazy things, it's a wonder he survived to adulthood.

High School Shenanigans

I have a ton of funny anecdotes from high school, some of which aren't long enough for a blog post, so I decided to make a compilation of weird or amusing stories from that time. From Rubik's cube savants to a kid accidentally running into a sliding glass door, it was certainly an eventful place.

Stories From Junior High

Let's talk about junior high. A time of learning, a time of chaos. A time of Team Jacob, a time of Team Edward.
Okay, maybe that was just around the time I went to junior high. But anyway, here's some school stories from when I was a young teen.

Panel from a 'Luann' comic strip by Greg Evans- Mr Fogarty, the teacher, sits at his desk. Behind him, the whiteboard says 'creative writing essay due'. One of the students, Knute, is saying, 'And the burglar took our TV, or computer, and weirdly, my essay.' Mr Fogarty looks fed up with this nonsense.

How to Fold a Fitted Sheet

Let's face it, folding fitted sheets is a miserable process. When they're brand new and still in the package, they look perfect. They're totally flat, completely smooth, not a wrinkle or a bulge in sight. But once you take them out of that package and unfold them, you will never see them look that good ever again. I mean, unless you're some sort of laundry-folding savant, which, let's face it, most of us aren't. Below is a description of what folding a fitted sheet is generally like.

Instructions of Folding Fitted Sheets- 1. Hold the sheet by the top corners and fold together. 2. Fold sheet in half, meeting the top and bottom corners. 3. Uhh... 4. Stack other linens on top and pretend nothing happened.
