Jewelry is made of many different materials, some of them more durable than others. Hematite, for example, is an inexpensive material sometimes used in jewelry. However, it's also somewhat fragile. I've read many stories of how acts of clumsiness resulted in fragile jewelry breaking.
And I can't help but think to myself, I probably shouldn't choose anything fragile for jewelry. Let's face it, I'd find some way to accidentally break it. As I thought more about this, many wild and absurd scenarios emerged in my mind. Allow me to explain.
Imagine for a moment, me having a conversation with someone, perhaps telling an amusing story, and gesturing as I do so. Heedless of my proximity to the things around me, I finally succeed in banging my hand against a large metal cabinet.
(SMASH)
"Well, I guess it's time to invest in a new bracelet. This one was getting old, an entire week since I bought it!"
Or perhaps I have a pendant lying on a shelf, and decide to put it on before heading out. I reach for it, fumble, and drop it.
...on the hard floor.
(SMASH)
Oh come on, I just purchased this thing yesterday!
Or maybe I make the mistake of buying a ring that turns out to be a bit too small. I return home after a long day and go to take it off before heading to bed.
"Great, this thing is stuck on my finger. It won't... come... off..."
I tug harder and harder, wiggle it from side to side, trying to get it past my knuckle. Finally, after an almighty yank, it comes free. And promptly slips out of my grasp, flying across the room at 500 MPH.
(ring shatters against the wall)
"I JUST GOT THIS RING THREE HOURS AGO. WHY."
So, long story short, if you're prone to Archie-Andrews-level klutziness, maybe don't invest in anything easily breakable. You probably don't want to test how realistic my overactive and ridiculous imagination actually is.
