The Way Things Were

I want my father to come home.

I want him to walk through the door, dressed in his work clothes, smelling the way he often did when he came back from work. I want him to put away his lunch box, and change into comfortable at-home clothes, and put on his slippers he always wore because his feet were eternally cold.

Breakfast will be cooked and coffee will be made, and the family will all sit in the living room, and we'll watch 'The Price is Right'. We'll complain about the contestants' behavior and poor decisions, we'll make guesses on the prices of different things.

School Books

Since I was writing about homework last week, I got to thinking about other school memories. Like books, for example. Join me on a blast from the past, all the way back to... uh, about ten years ago. This is the age of Aquarius my school days, the stories of textbooks and paperbacks that teachers tried to educate us with. Grab your 3D glasses (that looks like sunglasses) and make some popcorn, because this will be a wild ride.

Homework Assignments of Doom

Ah, the joys of homework. The tears shed, the blood spilled. The screams of frustration when you see a worksheet, the mind-numbing boredom when you have four zillion math problems to do, the confusion when nothing makes sense.

Then we go back to school, crawl in gasping and panting, our clothes torn, our bones broken, our bodies bruised, having barely survived the epic battle with the deadly homework monster. Our teacher looks at us, at the tortured souls before them, then announces, "So tonight's homework will be..." And the cycle begins anew.

Yes, homework can be a nightmare sometimes. Especially when they want you to do math. Or history. Or basically anything that doesn't involve petting kittens and puppies, or drawing wolves while your teacher drones on about a subject, World War II or something. Who knows, you stopped listening after "bla bla bla". (Hmm, maybe that's why you got a C on your last test.)

Random Childhood Memories

There's a lot of things from my early childhood I have some recollection of. Some of it's just random little things, and others are more specific. Today's post will be about some of the stuff I recall from the early years of my life.

'Stanley', one of my favorite TV shows when I was little. I mean, the kid's pets could talk, and he had a magic book that let him meet wild animals and learn about them.

We've heard many stories of people keeping exotic animals as pets. While some of these creatures have their cuteness or coolness factor, they're don't necessarily make good pets. In fact, you sometimes come across tales of exotic pet ownership gone wrong. Today's post discusses some of the animals that perhaps shouldn't be kept as pets.
